The joy of being part of a youth organisation is that people start to pay attention to you. For some reason, the fact that you’re a student, or a youth, makes people who are quite important pay more attention to you. I guess it makes them look good in photos?
Anyway, by being in the executive of quite a few youth organisation meant that I got to meet the US ambassador and speak to her about the work the organisation does. I was also invited (along with my exec) to a pre-election party.
I guess the point of this small post is that being part of an organisation helps. And if you want to change the world, one person at at time, then the best way to do it is to start young – cause that’s when people pay more attention to you.
I also want to give a shout-out to the US embassy and ambassador for actually inviting student and youth organisations to the events organised by the embassy!
